What started as a hobby in the kitchen quickly transformed into sweet success for one Casey County High School student.
Freshman Chloe Andrews has found a way to make money toward her pink Volkswagen Beetle fund: making tasty cookies and selling them.
“I started baking these about a year ago, and my grandparents loved them,” Andrews said. “They said it could be a new kind of thing for around here.”
In January, Andrews started selling the cookies at CCHS and locally in the county. Since then, customers have found out about the week’s flavors and made orders from posts on her personal Instagram and Facebook.
She said she delivers locally or pickups can be arranged.
Prices are $3 for one cookie, $6 for two cookies, or $12 for four cookies.
The inspiration for the flavors and looks of the cookies comes from various people and pages on the internet.
“I think I do get some of [the ideas] from Crumbl,” she said, “but it is fun to come up with them.”
Andrews is considering stopping her business in a couple of months to pursue a different venture to raise money for her car fund.
For now, her cookie business continues to thrive.
“I’m happy with how simple and sweet it is,” Andrews said, “and I am hopeful to see how this improves.”
