Casey County High School has not had a senior trip since the Class of 2022. However, the Class of 2026 is relaunching the tradition by traveling to Universal Studios in the spring.
This year, Mandi Wethington, a teacher here at CCHS, led the fundraising for the trip alongside many students.
Wethington discussed the different ways the Class of 2026 went about fundraising. The students were very hands-on when it came to saving money for the trip.
“We’ve had a few different events: the sweetheart dance, a color run, and a princess party,” Wethington said.

It has been four years since seniors at CCHS have been on a senior trip. The class of 2026 has worked hard to be able to restart the tradition.
Wethington explained that the idea came from the students themselves.
“They came up with the whole thing,” she said. “They were very determined.”

There were many different places that the students could have chosen to go. The class eventually decided to take a trip to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, with a 50/50 split between that and Colorado during the initial vote.
A coin flip eventually decided the seniors’ fate.
“I’m excited to go because I’ve never been there before, and I feel like there’s something to do for everyone,” said senior Layla Blevins, who was among the 16 Class of 2026 members involved in the decision-making process.
The date of the trip has not been finalized. However, it is expected to take place in the spring of 2026 and will last three days.
Wethington said the students are looking forward to making memories and having fun to celebrate the Class of 2026 graduating.
“They have worked hard for this and are very excited to take the trip to Orlando,” Wethington said.
